Weekly Severe Weather Discussion

Severe Weather Discussion for May 18 – 24, 2009.
Valid: 05/18/2009.

Highlights:

Today temperatures in the mid 70s, Tuesday-Wednesday near 80F,
Thursday-Sunday low 80s. Slight chance of showers Saturday and Sunday.

Probabilities:

– Severe Thunderstorms in Oklahoma: < 5%
– Storm Chase: < 5%
– Winter Precip: < 5%

Discussion:

Unseasonably quiet week ahead for Oklahoma weather wise with sensible
weather at a minimum. Morning discussion from OUN described the
northern hemispheric pattern the best, so reference it for more details.

End result is that moisture will be limited and upper support even
more limited. As such, no precipitation is expected through Friday.
Models hint at a very weak shortwave trof in the region Saturday and
Sunday, so low POPs will be used for those days.

Followed model guidance closely this week, went a few degrees above
MOS each day.
