..ALL-TIME AUGUST RAINFALL RECORD BROKEN AT OKLAHOMA CITY


PRECIPITATION RECORDS CONTINUE TO BREAK THIS MONTH AT WILL
ROGERS WORLD AIRPORT... AS ANOTHER ROUND OF HEAVY RAINFALL MOVED
THROUGH THE METRO AREA TODAY. TODAYS RAINFALL HAS SO FAR TOTALED
2.92 INCHES AT THE CURRENT TIME... FALLING JUST SHORT OF THE THE
RECORD FOR AUGUST 19TH. LAST YEAR ON THIS DATE... TROPICAL STORM
ERIN PRODUCED 3.82 INCHES OF RAINFALL... WHICH IS THE 2ND HIGHEST
RAINFALL TOTAL FOR AUGUST.

ALTHOUGH THE DAILY RECORD WAS NOT BROKEN...THE MONTHLY AUGUST
RAINFALL RECORD HAS BEEN BROKEN. WITH TODAYS TOTAL... THE MONTHLY
ACCUMULATION WAS SO FAR 9.48 INCHES. THIS BREAKS THE PREVIOUS
MONTHLY TOTAL OF 8.34 INCHES SET BACK IN 1906.

ADDITIONAL STATEMENTS WILL BE ISSUED AS NEEDED IF MORE PRECIPITATION
OCCURS.
