PUBLIC INFORMATION STATEMENT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORT WORTH TX
500 PM CST WED FEB 7 2007

...SPRING FEVER HITS NORTH TEXAS...

IF YOU THOUGHT IT HAD BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE NORTH TEXAS HAS HAD
WEATHER THIS WARM...YOU WERE RIGHT. THE MERCURY REACHED 70 DEGREES ON
TUESDAY (FEBRUARY 6) FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE DECEMBER 18...A SPAN OF
7 WEEKS.

THIS WAS THE LONGEST STRETCH WITHOUT 70 DEGREES IN THE LAST 6 YEARS.
THE LAST SUCH COOL SPELL WAS CONSIDERABLY LONGER...LASTING OVER 3
MONTHS...FROM NOVEMBER 2, 2000 TO FEBRUARY 6, 2001. (ODDLY ENOUGH...
THAT STREAK ENDED ON THE SAME CALENDAR DAY...FEBRUARY 6.)

THE TEMPERATURE CLIMBED INTO THE 70S AT DFW AIRPORT AGAIN ON
WEDNESDAY (FEBRUARY 7)...BUT THIS WILL BE THE LAST DAY OF SPRING
FEVER.
