Winter Weather Discussion – 2006-12-4

Winter Weather Discussion for November 29 – 30, 2006.
Valid: 11/29/2006.

**Significant Winter Weather Event for Oklahoma and parts of North Texas**

Highlights:

– Winter Storm Warning for much of Oklahoma, excluding the panhandle.

– Winter Storm Watch for much of north Texas, including DFW. This will probably become a warning by this afternoon. Frozen precipitation is possible south to Waco and Mexia.

– Snow Advisory for the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles.

– Prepare now for the impending winter weather.

Discussion:

Little change to prior reasoning. Upper system is stronger than progged, but 12z models appear on track. 18z NAM-WRF started increasing the QPF yesterday and recent model runs have done the same; with significant increase on the 12z runs. As such, expecting a lot more precipitation with this event. I’m out of time to type this, so review the following website for the latest information. Changes to the watch and warnings are likely later today.

NWS Norman has projected amounts here: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/oun/enhanced.php
NWS Tulsa’s website: http://www.srh.noaa.gov/tulsa
NWS Forth Worth (including Dallas): http://www.srh.noaa.gov/fwd
