Weekly Severe Weather Discussion

Severe Weather Discussion for June 13 – 18, 2006.
Valid: 06/13/2006.

Highlights:

– Continued hot and dry, slight chance of rain towards the weekend.

– Alberto makes landfall on Tuesday.

Probabilities:

– Severe Thunderstorms in Oklahoma: 5%
– Storm Chase: < 5%
– Winter Precip: < 5%

Discussion:

Little going on in my area as the atmosphere continues to be in a summer time pattern. Temperatures will continue above normal with little change in the over all pattern through Friday. Normal high in OKC is 87F with temperatures about 5-8 degrees above that this week.

There is an ever so slight chance of rain this weekend as the current ridge moves east and a trof enters the western U.S. Not going to get my hopes up, we’ll see what ultimately happens.

Alberto will make landfall within the next few hours. Said tropical storm should maintain around 65mph winds until landfall and then rapidly weaken as it moves northeast along the eastern coastline. Very little expected from this system, other than some much needed rain for Florida.
